NDIS Frequently Asked Questions

FAQS

Find clear, concise answers to the most common questions—eligibility, applying, using your plan and switching providers.

The NDIS is Australia’s national scheme that funds essential supports for people with permanent and significant disabilities. It provides individualised budgets to help participants access the services they need to improve independence, wellbeing and daily life.

You may be eligible if you are under 65, live in Australia, meet citizenship or visa requirements, and have a permanent disability that affects your everyday activities. In some cases, the NDIS may offer short-term support if early help can prevent long-term needs.

You can contact the NDIS to make an Access Request. You may need to provide reports or documents from your healthcare professionals explaining your disability and how it affects your daily life. The NDIA will review your information before making a decision.

Once your plan is active, you can choose providers that match your needs and goals. A Support Coordinator or Local Area Coordinator can help you find suitable services, compare options, and connect with registered providers in your area.

A Support Coordinator helps you understand your plan, build your capacity, and link you to community, mainstream and funded supports. They work with you to strengthen your ability to make decisions, manage services and prepare for future plan reviews.

Sharing your plan is entirely your choice. You may share the full plan or only the parts related to your goals and funding. Registered providers must follow strict privacy rules and cannot share your information without permission.

Yes. The NDIS is based on choice and control, so you are free to change providers at any time. Review your Service Agreement first, as some providers may require notice before ending services.

The NDIS funds supports that are reasonable, necessary and related to your disability—such as daily living assistance, transport, therapy, community participation, home modifications, assistive technology and more. Supports must directly benefit your functional needs and help you achieve your goals.

You’ll speak with one of our care specialists who will learn about your needs, answer your questions and recommend the best support options. This helps us create a personalised plan that suits your situation.

Yes. We guide you through assessments, referrals and the portal so you know exactly what to do. We make the process simple and stress-free.

We offer personal care, domestic assistance, social support, nursing care, respite care, home safety services and more. All services are tailored to help seniors live safely and comfortably at home.

Older adults who qualify for My Aged Care programs—such as CHSP or HCP—or anyone choosing to pay privately for additional support.

Yes. You have full choice and flexibility. You decide what support you need, when you need it and how it’s delivered.

We follow strict care standards, provide ongoing staff training, and conduct regular client check-ins. Your wellbeing, safety and dignity always come first.
